This class was created from a space of wanting to share my experience with those who are compassionate about making a difference in others lives.  Therapy Dog Etiquette is a class consisting of many different aspects of the Therapy Dog world.  Here are some areas you could utilize your dog after this training workshop.

Whether you want to work your dog in:

1.      Hospitals

2.      Institutions

3.      Nursing Homes

4.      Child Therapy

5.      Physical Therapy Tool

We will cover not only basic obedience to sustain control and a great relationship.  We will also be teaching you how to work your dog in different aspects of Therapy Dog Work, commands to benefit type of work, etiquette and how to handle situations. 

Will be desensitizing the dogs to wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, noises, children, etc…

Therapy Dog: is an important part of someone's physical, social, and emotional therapy activities. For example, a physical therapist might work with a patient and therapy dog to improve their physical fitness. Dog grooming, walking and even Frisbee throwing can help with coordination, strength, and flexibility. These dogs require special training and work intensely with one person at a time.

Here is an example of just some of the things we will be covering:

1. Obedience
2. Entering Building ~ Exercise, Potty walks, Quick Train Lesson
3. Meeting Staff ~ will usually know who likes dogs, which doesn’t, what rooms are to be visited.  What do they feel the person needs to work or just a visit?
4. Entering Person’s Room ~ Sit, Introduce Your Dog/Self, ask permission to approach
5. Entering Large Communal Room ~ Noise, approached by crowd or running towards
6. Introducing Wheelchair
7. Paws Up
8. Kisses
9. Shake
10. Sitting Politely for Petting

This class will give you a good look into many areas of Therapy Dog Work.

NOTE: *We do NOT Certify Therapy Dogs.  We will give you information for Certifying at a Service Dog School after the class.

Testing for Canine Good Citizen will be held at the end of this class.  Extra $20 for testing will be applied.

**Prerequisite: Your dog has to have taken a Beginner 1 Class and be 9+ Months old..

**All participants must fill out a Therapy Dog Etiquette Class Registration form before class starts.
